| Description: | Mr Chan Ning, a chemistry student from Hong Kong, recently won a 21 inch television set as first prize in fund-raising campaign for the building appeal of Swinburne Technical College, in Melbourne. More than 3,000 students and friends packed the Town Hall of Hawthorn, to watch the ceremony, when Mrs Casey, wife of the Australian Minister for External Affairs, Mr R G Casey, presented the prizes. Smiling Chan Ning (centre) is congratulated on winning first prize by Mrs Casey. The runner up, 14-year-old Nola Scott (second from left) received a wrist watch, while 17-year-old Peter Stosius (right) won a pen and pencil set as a third prize. |
