|Creator: ||Swinburne Technical College|
|Description: ||The front cover, designed by third year student Miss Hiltrud Sawatsky, celebrates the Melbourne Olympic year, 1956.|
Miss Hiltrud Sawatsky, designer of this cover, was a third year student at the Swinburne Art School. She was born at the German colony, Wilhelma, Palestine, of German parents. When the colony was evacuated in 1941, she and her family came to Australia in the famous liner 'Queen Elizabeth'. Hiltrud, who received her secondary education at the Camberwell Girls' School, is taking the Diploma of Advertising course, and hopes to work for an advertising agency. Her favourite activity in spare moments is sketching, especially in the bush, and despite the long journey to Australia she is very interested in visiting other countries." Open Door (1956), p. 16-17.
